Is Beta Alanine is a good source of Carnosine?
Carnosine (or L-carnosine) is a compound consisting of two amino acids; alanine and histidine, so supplementation of Beta Alanine is a good way to support Carnosine in our bodies. High concentrations of carnosine are present in muscles and nerves. Our intake of carnosine comes from a variety of meat sources including beef, pork and chicken. As we age, the level of carnosine in our muscles declines, requiring supplementation to maintain the high levels that are continually required by athletes to maintain peak performance.
